Description
Based on a forum suggestion where the user had to rename a bunch of devices from IP addresses to 'friendly names' ...
If there was a 'display name' field for the objects which was independent of the 'id' field used for linking (eg) to RRD files then we could rename devices without losing existing collected performance data (and it would probably make renames easier anyway as it wouldn't involve changing any key fields...)
